Damp rising up your walls, measured and kept under control
BiXos is an electronic system for rising damp. We take readings from your walls, fit the unit without building work and check progress with follow-up readings.
- No drilling or injections
- No chemicals
- Progress backed by readings

How to recognise rising damp
Groundwater is drawn up through the pores of brick, stone and mortar. That is why it shows low down: on ground floors, in basements and on walls in contact with the ground.
- A tide mark low on the wall
- It usually starts just above the skirting and can reach up to about a metre, with an uneven edge.
- Salts and flaking paint
- Salts carried up by the water crystallise at the surface and push off plaster and paint.
- A musty smell downstairs
- A damp wall keeps the room feeling damp even when you ventilate.
- Damaged skirting boards and timber floors
- Moisture in the wall spreads to anything touching it.
Not every damp patch is rising damp. Condensation and penetrating damp are often mistaken for it and need different solutions, so we always start by measuring.

A discreet unit on the wall
No drilling into the wall, no injections and nothing to replace. It just needs a nearby socket and runs continuously.
How we work
Every installation follows the same process, so you can follow progress through readings rather than by eye.
- Day 0
Assessment
We identify the source of the damp and take baseline readings on the affected walls.
- Day 0
Installation
We fit the unit at the point the assessment indicates. No building work.
- Day 45
First check
We take readings at the same points and compare.
- Day 90
Second check
New readings, compared with the baseline.
- Month 6
Review
We review how the wall is drying out and share the results with you.
Timings are a guide. Drying depends on the wall material, its thickness, salt content and ventilation.

The BiXos unit
A low-power electronic system designed for rising damp in brick, stone and mortar walls.
- Use
- Rising damp
- Fitting
- Wall-mounted, indoors, near a socket
- Operation
- Continuous, 24 hours a day
- Consumables
- None
- Building work
- No drilling or injections
- Extra module
- Ultrasonic insect deterrent
Also: a deterrent for damp-loving insects
BiXos includes an ultrasonic module designed to provide an additional deterrent effect on some insects drawn to damp areas. It complements the damp treatment: it is not a pest control treatment and will not clear an existing infestation.
Who it is for
Houses and ground-floor flats
Homes with walls in contact with the ground.
Period properties
Solid brick or stone walls without a working damp-proof course.
Blocks of flats
Communal hallways, stores and shared areas.
Shops and offices
Street-level commercial premises.

How to recognise rising damp
The signs that point to rising damp, how to tell it apart from condensation and penetrating damp, and how to confirm it.

Rising damp, condensation or penetrating damp?
Three causes of damp walls, how to tell them apart, and why the fix for one will not solve the others.

Why salts appear on your walls
What those white deposits pushing off paint and plaster are, what they tell you, and why scraping them off and repainting is not enough.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if it is rising damp?
If the marks are low on the wall, rise from the floor and come with salts, it is likely. But condensation and penetrating damp can look similar. The free assessment confirms it with readings.
Is there any building work?
No. The unit is fixed to the wall and plugged into a socket. Nothing is drilled into the wall and nothing is injected.
How long before I see a difference?
It depends on the wall: material, thickness, salt content and ventilation. That is why we take readings at 45 and 90 days and review at 6 months.
How much electricity does it use?
It is a low-power unit that runs continuously. We will give you the exact figure for your model at the assessment.
Does it help with condensation or penetrating damp?
No. BiXos is designed for damp rising from the ground. If the assessment shows a different cause, we will tell you and point you in the right direction.
What about insects that like damp?
BiXos includes an ultrasonic module designed as an additional deterrent for some insects drawn to damp areas. It is an extra, not a pest control treatment, and it will not clear an existing infestation. If you have an infestation, please contact a pest control company.
